چکیده

Objective: To report our experience of over 500 patients treated with Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) at a tertiary as well secondary Care hospital. Despite PCNL's early success minimally invasive treatment option, its popularity has waned after the advent extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL). Over time, however, urologists were forced to rethink role PCNL in Urolithiasis clinical ESWL revealed limitations, particularly for lower pole stones anatomical complexity and challenges faced open surgical procedures, an intrarenal pelvis. Urologists have advanced into era ever-expanding versatility thanks advancements tools, camera systems, intracorporeal technology, they now expert skills percutaneous stone dissolution all parts kidney. Patients Methods: Between 2013 2019, participants (358 males, 142 females, aged 15-55 years) addressed by single Urologist institution both care hospital Stones averaged 2.5 cm diameter (ranging from 1.5 3.5 cm).

AB01. Percutaneous renal access for nephrolithotomy

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy has revolutionized the ability of the urologist to remove large burdens of renal stones over the last 15 years. In the United States, it has largely replaced open stone surgery for the treatment of large sized stones. One of the key factors in optimizing outcomes for this procedure is accurate percutaneous renal access. The guiding principles for effective renal acc...

Transgluteal CT-Guided Percutaneous Renal Access for Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy in a Pelvic Horseshoe Kidney

CT-guided percutaneous renal access has been described as a safe and effective access technique in patients with complex anatomy, including ectopic kidney, retrorenal colon, spinal dysraphism, hepatomegaly, and splenomegaly. In comparison to conventional intraoperative fluoroscopic-guided access, CT imaging allows for delineation of surrounding structures that are at risk for injury during perc...

Ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy: Advantages and limitations

PURPOSE The use of ultrasound in percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) has not been shown to translate to better clinical and stone outcomes. To compare the operative outcomes, postoperative outcomes and complication rates of ultrasound-guided access PCNL (USGA-PCNL) versus fluoroscopy-guided access PCNL (FGA-PCNL). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 184 consecutive patients who underwent PCNL fr...

Does the presence of a percutaneous renal access influence fluoroscopy time during percutaneous nephrolithotomy?

Objective The aim of this study was to assess whether the presence of a pre-formed percutaneous renal access (PCA) had any effects on fluoroscopy time (FT) during percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Methods After ethics approval was obtained, medical records of all patients who underwent PCNL between 2009 and 2013 at a tertiary stone referral centre were retrospectively reviewed. Patients wi...
